Survey Details

Based on feedback from numerous faculty and staff focus groups held throughout the fall 2021 and spring 2022 semesters, the Division of Talent and Culture has decided to move the launch date for the West Virginia University Culture and Engagement Survey to spring 2023.

2023 WVU Culture and Engagement Survey Questions

The current question set for the survey includes the following statements. Survey respondents will provide their personal feedback to each statement using a five-point Likert scale ranging from Strongly Disagree to Strongly Agree.

  1. I am proud to work at WVU.
  1. I see a clear connection between my work and our WVU land-grant mission. (As a land-grant institution, the faculty, staff and students at WVU commit to creating a diverse and inclusive culture that advances education, healthcare and prosperity for all by providing access and opportunity; by advancing high-impact research; and by leading transformation in WV and the world through local, state and global engagement.)
  1. WVU is committed to diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
  1. My vice president/dean models our WVU Values. (Service, Curiosity, Respect, Accountability, Appreciation)
  1. My vice president/dean communicates a clear vision for the future.
  1. My vice president/dean communicates the reasons for college/division decisions.
  1. The person I report to models our WVU Values. (Service, Curiosity, Respect, Accountability, Appreciation)
  1. The person I report to does a good job managing people.
  1. The person I report to communicates what is expected of me.
  1. The person I report to provides useful feedback on my performance.
  1. I am comfortable discussing concerns with the person I report to.
  1. The person I report to treats me fairly.
  1. The person I report to treats everyone with respect regardless of their position/role.
  1. I have confidence in the leadership ability of the person I report to.
  1. I know what is expected of me at work.
  1. I am appropriately involved in decisions that affect my work.
  1. I am willing to put in extra effort to help the University reach its goals.
  1. People in my team take personal ownership of their work responsibilities.
  1. My co-workers treat everyone with respect regardless of their position/role.
  1. There is effective cooperation across departments.
  1. Employees of WVU adapt to new ways of doing things.
  1. I believe feedback from this survey will be used to make improvements.
