Kristie Woodward
Human Resources Representative for Learning and Organizational Development
Kristie serves as an HR Representative supporting Learning and Organizational Development and Employee Engagement and Solutions and provides operational, technical, and administrative support.
Kristie brings more than a decade of experience spanning executive recruiting, operations, and stakeholder engagement. Before joining WVU in early 2026, she spent eight years supporting executive recruiting at USAA, where she partnered with senior leaders, managed complex hiring processes, and was recognized for her attention to detail, sound judgment, and commitment to delivering an exceptional experience.
As a military spouse, Kristie has built a diverse career supporting soldiers and military families, corporate leaders, and nonprofit organizations. These experiences have shaped a collaborative, adaptable approach to her work, grounded in strong relationships, thoughtful problem-solving, and a commitment to service. She enjoys creating organized, efficient processes that help teams do their best work while supporting employees with empathy, professionalism, and integrity.
Kristie's work is influenced by her top 5 CliftonStrengths® - Learner, Responsibility, Arranger, Empathy, and Strategic. These strengths reflect her passion for continuous improvement, thoughtful problem-solving, and creating practical solutions that balance organizational needs with a people-centered approach.
She holds a BA in Political Science from Louisiana State University and an MBA in Marketing from Columbia Southern University.
Although she isn't a West Virginia native, "Take Me Home Country Roads" was her favorite song as a young child. It seems fitting that after a career shaped by new places and opportunities as a military spouse, she would eventually find herself calling Morgantown and WVU home. Outside of work, you'll find Kristie, her husband, and two boys at the local library, coffee shop, or new food joint, or camping or adventuring around WV and surrounding states.
