May 12 primary election day moved to June 9

Earlier this week, Gov. Jim Justice signed an executive order declaring West Virginia’s 2020 primary election day will move to Tuesday, June 9, to protect the public from the potential spread of COVID-19. The primary election day originally was scheduled for Tuesday, May 12.

In accordance with the executive order, West Virginia University and WVU Research Corporation have adjusted their holiday schedules to observe June 9 as a University holiday.

Further, May 12 no longer will be considered a University holiday and will become a regular workday for all WVU and WVU Research Corporation employees.

Employees who typically would be scheduled to work on a Tuesday should plan to work on May 12, or make other pre-approved arrangements with their supervisor (e.g., request paid leave or flex their work week).

WVU and WVU Research Corporation will continue to observe the spring holiday on Friday, April 10.
