| Becca Smith | 2026 | Susan Catanzarite | Becca Smith is a valued and trusted leader in the Chambers College. In her role as Program Coordinator of the Becker AeSC, she ensures students can receive essential academic support services. Becca manages our Neidermeyer Scholars Supplemental Instruction Program/tutors, as well as coordinates our BCOR 191, First Year Seminar course curriculum. These responsibilities are at the core of the Chamber College's retention initiatives. Her efforts have been a direct contributor to the increase in our retention numbers from 84.8% in 23-24 to 86.5% in 24-25. Regarding BCOR 191, Becca took on this role and made significant improvements in the course design. Our Undergraduate Programs team members have been very complimentary of her changes. Since this course is a valuable retention initiative, any updates must be intentional and in the best interest of our first-year students. Becca's greatest strengths are her student-centered focus and the ability to analyze data to make decisions. She is an expert when it comes to our most essential technology platforms and goes above and beyond to help her colleagues. Most recently, she worked in partnership with a coworker to create a template to track the wait-times of our students during walk-in advising hours. | |
| Julie Turner-Maramba | 2026 | Dr. Rebel Smith | Julie Turner-Maramba exemplifies what it means to be a Mountaineer. She has served WVU in different roles for several years and is currently the Assistant Dean for Graduate Programs. Chambers is lucky to have her. As Assistant Dean, Julie is responsible for the functioning of the Graduate Programs Office along with playing a vital role in 11 master’s degrees and the DBA (for a total of nearly 600 students). She either oversees or is directly responsible for certifying graduation, course scheduling, enforcing probation and dismissal policies, all program orientations, any staff or HR issues, and meets regularly with program coordinators, Chairs, and students. There are so many tasks that she performs that it is impossible to name them all. If an issue arises, she takes care of it. Julie is dependable and fiercely loyal. She was chosen for this role not because she had direct experience in graduate programs, but because she has the right skillset and strengths for the job. In the three years that she has been Assistant Dean for Graduate Programs, she has worked tirelessly to master the role. There isn't any "quit" in Julie. Our students are lucky to have her as an advocate. Chambers is lucky to have her at the helm of Graduate Programs. | |
| Richard (Dick) Riley, Jr. | 2026 | Dr. Scott Fleming | Dick has and is still making an impact on the accounting profession and exceeds expectations in every respect. As a member of the WV Board of Accountancy, Dick helped construct the legislation that lessens barriers to students seeking to become licensed as a CPA in the state. Changes in state law this past March significantly reduce the financial burden to be eligible to sit for the CPA exam and provide flexibility to students in mapping out their professional career. Dick helped spearhead the efforts to improve CPA exam readiness in WVU students through the integration of CPA exam prep content materials within critical courses in the Accounting Undergraduate Program of Study. This has an innovative impact on student outcomes in regard to workforce readiness, placement, and salaries; and sets us apart from other competitive peer programs. This improves both the student experience and parental experience with WVU. On a national level, Dick is working with NASBA and the AICPA in the review of CPA exam content in an effort to improve both national pass rates and the CPA pipeline issue. This has positive reputational impact on both the University and State on the national stage. At the department and college level, Dick continues to work with recruiting efforts at Morgantown High School for Accounting and the Chambers College. He has made multiple presentations across multiple grades to educate students on what an accountant does and to dispel negative myths related to accounting and business in general. This engagement serves as an exemplar for the department and sets the cultural bar as an engaged team member within the faculty ranks. | |
| A. Graham Peace | 2026 | Joshua Hall | Graham goes above and beyond representing his College, his department, and what he does for his students every day. In just the past year he has stepped up to serve on the University GEF Committee in addition to all of his normal duties and service including our departmental faculty evaluation. Graham teaches our fundamental database course, which is our entry systems thinking course for the MIS major, AI major and minor, and required in the Supply Chain Management major. He does this in a way to make this course accessible to the most students possible, setting students up for success by teaching technical content, that allows them to get jobs and internships. Finally, prior to returning to the faculty he served in a Department Chair (for multiple departments) and Associate Dean roles for many years, setting the foundation for all the success of the MIS program, and the launch of the AI and Cybersecurity programs in Chambers College. | |

| Kara Sherrell | 2026 | Josh Hall | Over the last year, Kara Sherrell has meaningfully impacted the Chambers College. She has consistently adapted our programming to meet the evolving needs of our employer partners, deepening relations that directly benefit our students. In addition to employer relations leadership, she teaches BCOR 191, co-teaches a Hospitality and Tourism, manages the Gloria Jean Rosenthal Career Closet, and secures external sponsors to support various CCD initiatives. She has strategically grown the CCD's partnerships with MIS, Supply Chain Management, and Accounting, continuing to drive student success outcomes. We are fortunate to have Kara in a role that requires an exceptional balance of internal and external stakeholders. | |

John was able to troubleshoot the issues between signals and inputs from the automated building controls at the facility ... a very complex initiative as several feed wires had to be researched. John was able to restore the system to ensure the critical research continued. | |

He has been instrumental in accomplishing work in the campus cafe areas fixing aged coolers and food service equipment that requires immediate attention vice waiting for vendors to respond. | Sandra Peppel | 2026 | Craig Boegner | Sandra has been a staple at the Student Recreation Center since it opened in 2001, serving as the Coordinator of Aquatic Operations and Programming. Her attention to detail and passion for providing a fun, safe aquatic environment for the WVU Community is unmatched. She is a willing campus partner to provide the Aquatic Center as an academic resource where students get the opportunity for experiential learning. Behind the scenes she manages the pump room meticulously maintaining outstanding water chemistry and keeping the complex equipment in working order. She oversees a large student staff of over 30 lifeguards and provides opportunities for first time guards to get certified in house. Despite there being a national industry shortage of lifeguards Sandra has been able to recruit and retain lifeguard talent without interrupting services. I cannot think of anyone more deserving of recognition given the way Sandra has represented the department and WVU in her time serving the institution. Not to mention the countless impact she has made on students she has supervised, patrons that have utilized the Aquatic Center or the other WVU departments and community entities she has partnered with over the years to provide an outstanding aquatic experience. | |
| Emily Chapman | 2026 | Gary Furbee | Emily has recently been elevated to program coordinator overseeing all of Adventure WV guided trips. Before she was elevated into a new position however Emily also overall all of our departmental logistical and operational work as the program support specialist. Throughout much of the fall semester Emily overall both our guided trip and program support roles while a search for the vacant PSSRO position was held. Emily did a fantastic job, balancing the demands of both positions working diligently to ensure that our Standard with program delivery and support. She has done a fantastic job supporting our students and our fellow student life colleagues, and thus should be recognized for going above and beyond during this time. We’re extremely fortunate to have someone of Emily‘s caliber as both Adventure, West Virginia and student life have greatly benefited from her ongoing contributions. | |

Because of this work she has forged very positive relationships with the faculty, administrators and staff across the university including the regional campuses. Preparing for a site visit of this magnitude requires years of groundwork—Ann guided the development of our self-study report, led the response to formative feedback, and provided the expertise and strategic insight needed to navigate a complex, multi-college accreditation process involving faculty and staff across multiple departments and programs. Her deep knowledge of CAEP standards and her ability to translate that knowledge into actionable guidance has been indispensable. Because of her leadership, our educator preparation programs are not only better positioned for accreditation success but are stronger in terms of their underlying assessment infrastructure and continuous improvement processes. Beyond her extraordinary day-to-day performance, Kristen has gone above and beyond this year in at least two especially visible ways: (1) she led the planning and coordination of multiple development and community-building events (NextGen Teacher Education events, Underwood-Smith Teaching Scholars Dinner), and (2) she has proactively developed the systems and documentation that will serve as the foundation for our growing Office of Educator Preparation. | Joshua Taylor | 2026 | Sally Hodder | Josh joined WVCTSI in December 2024 as the Pilot Grants Coordinator, bringing experience from the Biology Department in WVU's Eberly College of Arts and Sciences. Since joining the team, he has demonstrated an exceptional commitment to the growth and success of the Pilot Grant Program, including helping shape its future as part of the next iteration of the Clinical and Translational Research (CTR) program. This summer, Josh also completed his master's degree in Clinical and Translational Science, reflecting his dedication to the field. He is deeply invested in building strong relationships with investigators, taking the time to guide them through program requirements, ensure compliance, and support their success. He is also quick to recognize the accomplishments of others, frequently recommending investigators for broader recognition of their work. Josh's knowledge of pilot projects and program data has proven invaluable, providing critical information for reporting efforts and supporting the development of major external proposals. | Bryan Denis | 2026 | Gary Furbee | Bryan is the person who keeps the Mountainlair Games Area operational. He does not get enough credit for all he has done and continues to do. He works behind the scenes on a daily basis. Most times he's not out in the public areas for people to see or even know who he is. He is 90% of the time working on the 65+ year old pinsetters in the bowling alley. He has kept the machines operating for WVU Up All Night for over 20 years, which is a feat in itself. He cares so much about the Games Area that he will call in on his days off to see if he is needed, or if he can guide someone through a quick fix. He has even called in when he is on cruises in other countries. His legacy will be a hard one to fill when he decides to retire once and for all one day. |
