July 2026: Public Service Loan Forgiveness

At WVU, your benefits extend beyond health insurance and retirement plans. As part of our comprehensive Total Rewards package, employees have access to programs that support financial wellness at every stage of life. This month we're highlighting Savi , a benefit available through WVU’s partnership with TIAA that helps employees manage and reduce student loan debt.

If you have federal student loans, you may be eligible for Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF), a federal program that forgives the remaining balance on qualifying federal student loans after 120 qualifying monthly payments while working for an eligible public service employer. As a benefits-eligible WVU employee, your service may count toward PSLF, and WVU's partnership with TIAA and Savi can help you navigate the process.

August 2026: Direct Pay Benefits

WVU offers a variety of optional benefits that you can take advantage of anytime throughout the year. Direct pay benefits are paid directly by you to the vendors and are not deducted from your paycheck. These offerings provide additional ways to protect what matters most, support your financial well-being, and make everyday life a little easier.

Pet Insurance – Help protect your pets and your finances when the unexpected occurs with My Pet Protection from Nationwide. Members also receive free access to VetHelpline, a 24/7 service that connects pet owners with licensed veterinary professionals via phone, chat, or video.

Auto, Home and Renters Insurance – Explore coverage options and potential group discounts for your vehicle, home, or rental property through nationally recognized insurance providers.

Identity Protection – Protect your personal information with Allstate Identity Protection. Services include fraud monitoring, alerts for suspicious activity, and provide support restoring your identity if needed.

Long-Term Care Resources (LTCR) – Planning for future care needs can help reduce financial stress. LTCR provides access to information from more than 25 leading long-term care insurance providers, helping you compare coverage options and find a plan that fits your needs and budget.

Perks Program – At no cost to you, a Perks membership provides access to thousands of employee discounts, local and national offers, and exclusive WVU savings opportunities. One valuable component of the Perks program is ‘Insurance & Benefits’ which includes access to additional direct pay benefits.
