Hiring of Minors/Children on Campus

Hiring of Minors

Employment with the West Virginia University system is available to any qualified person who has reached 18 years of age. Employment of any person who is under 18 years of age is restricted.

Prior to extending an offer to a prospective employee under 18 years of age, all hiring supervisors must contact the Division of Human Resources-Talent Strategy in order to receive approval to proceed with the hire.

To request approval, please fill out the  Hiring of Minors Request Form  BEFORE any offer of employment is made.

Supervisors are ultimately responsible for adhering to the conditions of employing a minor, as outlined and communicated during the approval process.
