Short-Term Disability

Long-Term Disability
  • Carrier: Principal
  • Plans: 1 plan which pays 66% of salary; enrollment is automatic for eligible employees.
  • Premiums: Premiums are paid by WVURC and enrollment is automatic.
  • Carrier: The Standard or MetLife administered by Mountaineer Flexible Benefits (FBMC)
  • Plans: 3 plan options:
    • The WVU Group plan from the Standard offers 1 plan providing 60% pre-disability salary coverage and includes an annuity benefit providing a monthly contribution of an amount equal to 12 percent of the employee's salary to their 401(a) account with TIAA in the event of disability.
    • MetLife administered by FBMC offers 2 plans, providing 50% or 60% pre-disability salary coverage. The MetLife plans do not include the annuity benefit.
  • Premiums: Premiums are paid by the employee and depend and salary and plan elected.

Accidental Death and Dismemberment

  • Plan: New hires are guaranteed up to $100,000. Coverage available up to $500,000 with Evidence of Insurability.

Health Savings Accounts

Paid Time Off

Benefits eligible employees accrue Paid Time Off (PTO) with accrual rate and maximum based on years of service with WVURC and job type. Employees also receive employer-paid short-term and long-term disability insurance coverage.

Leave-eligible employees accrue both Annual Leave and Sick Leave with accrual rate and maximum based on years of service with the state of West Virginia and job type. Sick leave may be accrued without limit. Employees may also purchase optional short-term and long-term disability insurance.
