Vision Insurance

West Virginia University (WVU) offers benefits-eligible employees options for Vision Insurance to help cover or reduce the cost of eye exams, and to provide discounts on glasses or contacts.

Administrator: Mountaineer Flexible Benefits

Carrier: Humana EyeMed

• Coverage Options: Two coverage options are available.

• Employee Only - employee is the only one covered.
• Employee + Family - employee plus their legal spouse and legal minor dependents are covered.

• Plan Options: Two plan options are available, Exam Plus Plan or Full Service Plan.        

• Premiums: Premiums are tax-free based on the coverage option and plan selected. Premiums are deducted over 18 or 24 pays depending on length of employee's contract.

• Providers: To find an in-network vision provider visit  https://eyedoclocator.eyemedvisioncare.com/member/en.

• Enrollment: Employees may enroll the month of hire or during the two following months.

  • To enroll, complete the Mountaineer Flexible Benefits enrollment form and submit directly to WVU Shared Services at  SharedServices@mail.wvu.edu .
  • Beyond the new hire enrollment period, coverage can only be changed during the annual open enrollment period or on the basis of a qualifying life event.
