2024 Performance Review

2024 Performance Review Process Information:

In support of West Virginia University’s continued focus on recognizing and rewarding high performance across our institution, the 2024 performance review process will launch on Friday, March 7, 2025, for classified and non-classified staff and certain FE/AP employees. 

Aligned to WVU’s core values, the annual performance review process is designed to measure an employee’s capabilities, accomplishments, development and overall contributions to the University as well as the critical role each employee plays in bringing our land-grant mission to life.

To provide more timely feedback to employees, the timeline for the performance review process has been condensed. While it has historically taken place from mid-January through the end of April, the process will now be conducted from March 7 through May 14. This new timeline will allow employees to receive more real-time comments on their performance.

In addition, the second-level supervisor review and approval step has been removed in the Blue system. We encourage second-level leaders to work on their team rating plans with their direct reports who serve as supervisors and managers.

Below is the timeline of the overall process for the 2024 review period:

  • March 7, 2025 – Employee pre-reviews open.
  • March 24, 2025 – Employee pre-reviews close. 
  • March 24, 2025 April 9, 2025 – Reviews are open for first-level and second-level supervisors to condense the cycle process.
  • April 9, 2025 – The review tool will close to all first and second-level supervisors. All reviews must be completed by this date.
  • April 16, 2025 – Analytic reports are provided to vice president/AVP/dean levels and SHRP for review and approval and/or modifications.
  • April 25, 2025 – Vice presidents/AVP/deans complete their review process and authorize the final ratings.
  • April 28, 2025 – May 14, 2025 – Supervisors can conduct employee review meetings. Employees will be given 10 business days to review their performance review and provide comments. The 10 business-day comment period will begin after the employee has received either the email with the link to the comments page or accessed the comment page on their performance review dashboard.
  • All reviews are considered final 15 business days after the employee has received the performance review from their supervisor.

 All newly hired (after July 1, 2024) classified and non-classified staff who are still in their probationary period should use the current form and process. Contact EmployeeRelations@mail.wvu.edu for the appropriate review forms.
