Spring Enrollment
If you’ve opted out of the student insurance for the academic year by completing the fall student health insurance waiver and would like to opt back into the WVU Aetna student health insurance plan for the spring term, you may do so without experiencing a qualifying life event. To be eligible to enroll in the WVU-sponsored Aetna student health plan, you must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours as a domestic student or at least 1 credit hour as an international student.
Step 1. Please complete the Spring Enrollment Form by December 31, 2024.
Step 2. Once you’ve received an email from the Student Insurance Office notifying you of your enrollment in the Aetna plan, check your student account for the newly assessed student insurance fee, and print your Aetna ID card .
If approved for spring enrollment, your WVU Aetna coverage will be effective January 1, 2025 through August 10, 2025.
Note: NEW change in premiums from prior years: the student insurance fee is based on the number of days in the coverage period, which results in differing premiums for the fall and spring/summer coverage periods. For planning purposes, please be aware that the fall 2024 health insurance premium will be $1,073, and the spring/summer premium will be $1,666 based on the number of days in each coverage period.
