403(b) Universal Availability Notice

West Virginia University (the "University") is a participating employer of the West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission and the West Virginia Council for Community and Technical College Education 403(b) Tax Deferred Retirement Savings Plan (the "Plan"). All employees of the University, including employees not eligible for other benefits, can voluntarily elect to defer a portion of their wages to the Plan for retirement savings.

Eligibility

Generally, all common law employees of the University who receive compensation reportable on a Form W-2 are eligible to participate in the Plan. Former employees, independent contractors and student teachers are not eligible to participate in the Plan.

Contributions

An employee can elect to defer a portion of their compensation to the Plan on a pre-tax and/or post-tax (Roth) basis. Employee contributions to the Plan can be allocated among the investment options offered by TIAA under the Plan. Employees are 100% vested in their accounts under the Plan at all times.

To Enroll or Change 403(b) Elections with TIAA

Eligible employees may begin participating in the Plan, or change their deduction amounts, at any time. To enroll or adjust their contribution(s) in the Plan, an employee must complete a Salary Reduction Agreement to elect the contribution amount.
