Guidance for Self-Quarantining and Returning to Work

  • Employees are requested to remain off WVU property for 14 days if they have:
    • COVID-19 symptoms

    • Been directly exposed to COVID-19

    • A positive COVID-19 test result
  • Employees should avoid leaving home if possible, but if necessary should practice exceedingly good hygiene and physical distancing. Working from home is expected to continue when possible.
  • Those asked to quarantine for 14 days will have the opportunity to shorten their quarantine time to 10 days if they:
    • Have no symptoms during the 10-day period
    • Receive a negative RT-PCR test result on day six or seven
    • Follow all safety measures — including daily symptom monitoring — through day 14
  • Employees should contact WVU Shared Services at 304-293-6006 or CareServices@mail.wvu.edu to develop a return-to-work plan tailored to their specific situation before resuming normal work activities (on campus or via an alternative work arrangement).
